Journey KOA off the interstate offers easy access for travelers

Halfway between Chicago and Mount Rushmore and only a half day’s drive to the Badlands or Wisconsin Dells, this Journey KOA campground is a great place to stay for the night or a few days. Easy access to an interstate makes it a breeze to get back on the road. Sites include: tent sites with a grill, one – and two-room cabins, and long pull-through RV sites. Guests enjoy a cold drink or their favorite snack from the camp store as they check-in. The 24 hour laundry is clean and bright. A large pavilion is perfect for family games and hosts park activities. Amenities include a large pool, basketball, horseshoe pits, playground, and volleyball court. Activities include ice cream socials, movie nights, and several other fun events. The park is close to great fishing, water-skiing lakes, a speedway, golf course, and restaurants. The park received the KOA Founders and President Award for 15 consecutive years. It earned 5 stars on KOA and YELP this year. It was also rated number 21 in the entire KOA system in 2021!

Main building
Original KOA A-Frame contains the office, store, laundry, bathrooms, utility sink and also the upstairs living quarters. The main building sits and faces to the east. It is centrally located and is the main area for campground events.

Bathhouses
Part of the main building. There are 3 showers and 4 sinks in each bathroom. The women’s has 3 toilets and the men’s has two toilets and one urinal. Each bathroom has an electric hand dryer, paper towel dispenser, and electric soap dispenser (new 2022).

Owner’s residence
There is a fully functional apartment upstairs in the A-frame. The owners use site C1 with a camper. This site allows them to see who is coming and going and gives quick access to the office when needed.

Pavilion
Located directly behind the main office, this is a great space for campground activities as well as family get-togethers and is rentable for birthday parties.

Cabins
3 cabins total. Two basic KOA cabins sleep 4 (1 queen bed, 1 bunk bed). Amenities include TVs, air conditioners, fans, desks and small heaters. One cabin sleeps 6 (1 queen bed, 2 bunk beds). This cabin has a TV, air conditioner, desk, fan and heater. The back room has two bunk beds, a small air conditioner, fan and desk. All three cabins have metal roofs and new Polywood rocking chairs on the front porches.

Equipment/maintenance buildings
Equipment/maintenance space is being rented from the landowner adjacent to the park.

Pool shed
The pool shed sits under the pavilion and provides state required shelter and safety related services for our pool filter and equipment.

Storage
A small shed holds event decorations, the grill in the winter and other odds and ends.
